Brent Allen Burt -- St. Charles

Brent Allen Burt, 24, of St. Charles, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015.

Brent was born March 20, 1991, in Rochester, to John and Tammi (Durham) Burt. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 2009 and studied diesel mechanics at Universal Technical Institute. He was a hard worker and formerly worked for Walz Chevrolet in Winona before driving semi. On June 6, he proposed to Brittany Scharmer, and they were excited for their wedding next summer.

Brent was the kind of guy who would help anyone, anytime, anywhere. He was a daredevil, a jokester, and an inspiration for many. As a child, his passion for cars was obvious, and he owned 26 in his lifetime. He also enjoyed racing and took third place in the Winona County Fair. In his spare time, Brent loved grilling for friends, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his older brother, Jarred.

He is survived by his mother, Tammi Burt of Elgin; father, John Burt of St. Charles; brother, Jarred Burt of Eyota; fiancée, Brittany Scharmer of Winona; paternal grandfather, Wally Burt; and maternal grandfather, Richard Durham; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Brent was preceded in death by his grandmas, Marlis Burt and Betty Durham, and uncles, Kerry Durham and Jim Scott, his guardian angel when he was driving truck.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in St. Charles and also one hour prior to the service. Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home led by Funeral Celebrant Jenny Hoff. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
