C. Suzann (Merritt) Anderson - Elkton

Sue (Merritt) Anderson, 69, of Elkton, was called home Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. For the past 13 months, she fought a tough battle with pancreatic cancer with her family by her side every step of the way.

Sue was born March 25, 1943, in Austin, the daughter of Howard and Mary (McGee) Merritt. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1961 and was united in marriage to Donald Anderson on Oct. 16, 1965, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Sue worked for the Mayo Clinic until starting a family when she became a mother and farm wife for many years. She later worked as a waitress at the Port in Elkton, and then became a paraprofessional at Southland Middle School for 17 years, where the students referred to her as "Mrs. A". She retired in 2008.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Sue enjoyed playing cards, cooking, an occasional slot machine, crocheting, loving life and most of all being with her family.

Sue is survived by her husband, Don Anderson, Elkton; children, Jackie Anderson, Elkton, Kelly (Gary) Mullenbach, Adams, Keri (Casey) Eglinton, Hokah and Leslie Anderson (Trevor Arndt), Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Chelsey (Drew Gappa), Garret and Josh Mullenbach, Gage Anderson, McKenna Eglinton and Lane and Karley Arndt; sisters, Mary Kay Renchin, Austin and Patricia (Walter) Forschen, Anoka; brothers, James (Diane) Merritt, Austin and Terry (Nancy) Grunwaldt, Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Merritt, brother-in-law, Dale Renchin and nephew, Chad Forschen.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Austin.

Visitation will be held at the Adams Funeral Home in Adams, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal at the church.
