Carol Ann Reed — Rochester
Carol Ann Reed died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at her home in Rochester.
Carol was born at Saint Marys Hospital on Nov. 24, 1945, the daughter of Bill and Helen (Finn) Raatz. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1963. In 1965, she was married and later divorced. She worked at Mayo Clinic for 38 years and retired in 2001.
On Nov. 21, 1981, she married Larry Reed, and they made their home in Eyota until May 1990, when they moved to the Mississippi River near Wabasha. They both had a love for fishing and boating and enjoyed 22 years living with a pontoon or boat tied up at their dock.
Carol also enjoyed reading, crocheting and trips to Lake of the Woods to ice fish. She also enjoyed time spent with family and friends and watching the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Susan (Carl) Newberg, of Rochester; and her stepsons, Dale, of Rochester, Todd (Dawn), of Grand Meadow, and Kurt (Cyndi), of Kasson; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sisters, Sandra Hanson, of Texas, Suzie (Tim) Burton, of Arizona, Diana (Franz) Satler and Michelle Hatch, both of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband and both parents.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 9, at 3 p.m. in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with Pastor Tony Deach of Christ Community Church of Rochester officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. before the service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
