Carol Hander — Dover

Carol Ann Hander, 70, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at her home in Dover following a lengthy illness.

Carol was born Nov. 2, 1945 in New Richmond, Wis., to Lawrence and Lena (Vellieu) Demulling. She graduated from Dover-Eyota High School. On May 15, 1965, she married David Hander at the Catholic Church in St. Charles. They lived in Stewartville for 23 years, Mazeppa for 20 years and moved to Dover three years ago. Carol worked as a cook for many years, retiring from Madonna Towers in Rochester. She and David wintered the last five years in Texas, "and enjoyed their Texas family." Carol enjoyed playing bingo, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. She loved her cat, Blackie.

She is survived by her husband, David, of Dover; mother, Lena Demulling of Rochester; children, Carmen (Dean Thomas) of Zumbrota and Ricky (Michelle) of Norfolk, Neb.; grandchildren, Hayden (Aurora), Taylor (Taryn), Bailey, Nathan (Bethany), Joshua (Stacy), Brittany (Jake); great-grandchildren, Landon, Kenden and Lincoln; one sister, Diane (Steve) Rossman of Arlington, Wis,; brothers, Robert (Charlene) Demulling, Tom (Leah) Demulling and Jim (Carol) Demulling, all of Rochester.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence, one sister, Sharon, and one brother, Ronald.

Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. A private interment at the Saratoga Cemetery will take place at a later date. Visitation is Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
