Carolyn 'Connie' Jeanne Searcy — St. Charles
Carolyn "Connie" Jeanne Searcy, of St. Charles, passed away on Sept. 30, 2016, at the age of 92 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Marys Campus after a very short hospitalization.
She was born in Maryville, Mo., to parents Marve Curnutt and Helen (Wray) Curnutt on Aug. 7, 1924. She had one sister, Marge McLean, who was five years her senior.
Connie attended Maryville's Teacher college in Maryville, Mo., where she met Franklin Searcy. They were married in New York City in 1944 and lived in Boston, Mass., Yorktown, Va., San Diego, Calif., Owatonna and Valparaiso, Ind., before moving to St. Charles in 1954, where she resided for 62 years.
Connie is survived by four sons, Ky (Glenda), of Greencastle, Pa., Chris (JoEllen), of Boston, Mass., and Joe (Sheila) and T.J. (Heidi), of St. Charles; honorary daughter, Nancy Rentfrow, of Erie, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Franklin; her parents; and sister.
Connie was one-of-a-kind: young at heart, a lover of music and dancing, an avid reader, entertainer, great cook, free spirit, always elegantly dressed and up for any adventure. She was full of compliments for others and loved her friends and family, always putting each before herself. She lived independently in her home until her passing and remained mentally sharp, even informing her physicians of which presidential candidate she believed won the recent debate.
At Connie's request, a Celebration of Life will be planned by the family at a later date in lieu of a memorial service. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service of St. Charles is assisting the family with Connie's arrangements.
