Carolyn Tienter — Preston
Carolyn Tienter, 85, of Preston, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2014, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Carolyn Maxine Tienter was born March 29, 1929, in Carimona Township, Fillmore County, the daughter of Earl and Edna (Ramaker) Carrier. She attended Oak Grove country school in Carimona Township and was a 1948 graduate of Preston High School. She was an employee of F & M Community Bank for 38 years. She married Leland Tienter Aug. 30, 1952, in Preston, where the couple made their home. She became a resident of the Chosen Valley Care Center in 2013.
Carolyn was a member of the Preston United Methodist Church and was active in their ladies circle, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting with friends.
She is survived by her husband, Leland; son, Tom (Julie) Tienter, of Chatfield; one granddaughter, Tonya Tienter, of Ames, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jean Tienter, of Chatfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at the Preston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amanda Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, and at the church on Monday an hour before the service.
The family prefers memorials to the Preston United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
