Charlene Underbakke — Spotsylvania, Va.

Charlene H. Underbakke, 84, formerly of Canton, Minn., in Fillmore County, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Virginia, with her son, Todd, by her bedside.

Charlene was born in Canton to the late Ralph and Clara Thompson on Nov. 10, 1930. She grew up in the Canton area, where she graduated from Canton High School in May 1947. Charlene was a member of Henrytown Lutheran Church.

She married Donald Underbakke, and she, her son, Todd, and Donnie moved to Manassas, Va., in 1968.

Charlene and Donnie moved back to Canton when Donnie retired from the military. She remained in Canton until March 2010, when she moved back to Spotsylvania, Va., to live with her son, Todd.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donnie; her brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many special friends.

She is survived by her son, Todd Pierce of Spotsylvania, Va.; sisters, Marilyn Handberg of Bloomington, Minn., Ramona Hudson of Canton, Donnis Forkum of Norman, Okla., and Joanne Caldwell of Blaine; brother, Jerry Thompson (Betty) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; sister-in-law, Joyce Duncan of Rochester; brother-in-law, Willard Patchin of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Canton.

She had many friends in Virginia and Minnesota. She will be missed in our hearts forever.
