Charles 'Charlie' Clark — Rochester

Charles "Charlie" Clark, 88, of Rochester, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, surrounded by his family at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Charles William Clark was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Leyden, N.D., to Thomas and Gertrude (Eaton) Clark. He graduated from Walhalla High School in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was stationed in Guam and Alaska during his four years of service and was proud to be a World War II veteran.On April 5, 1948, Charlie married Erma Sellen. They lived in Cavalier, N.E., and Scranton, N.D., during his years as a manager/owner of grain elevators. Charlie and Erma retired in 1985 and moved to Chatfield, where they lived for 20 years. During this time, they enjoyed their winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. In 2005, they moved to Gramercy Park in Rochester.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Erma; and their five children, Charles, Jr. (Karen) of Austin, Texas, Gary (Lucy) of Hoisington, Kan., Carol (Dick) Kivimagi of Rochester, Janice (Doug) Olson of Beulah, N.D., and Dan (Ann) Clark of Rochester.He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Kivimagi, Konnor, Anna, Theo, Lexi and Avett all of Chatfield, Kristi Clark of Austin, Texas, Cadi (Alex) Kiel of Memphis, Tenn., Tony (Kate) Clark and Charlie both of Austin, Texas, Jayden Olson of Lincoln, Neb., Tim (Kristine) Clark, Aaronand Marianna all of Rochester, Josh Olson of Beulah, N.D., and Karisa Clark of Provo, Utah; one brother, Andrew Clark of Henderson, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Chatfield, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. Burial will be at Chatfield Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The family prefers memorials to the American Legion, which Charlie was a member of for 69 years or Seasons Hospice where he received exceptional care in his final days.
