Clifford Laging — Rochester

Clifford "Cliff" Laging, of Rochester, passed away at Seasons Hospice House on March 15, 2016.

He was born Oct. 15, 1925, in rural Spring Valley, to the late Elsie and Walter Laging. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1943. In 1949, he married Dorothy E. Boelter, and they farmed until 1957, when he was employed by IBM and moved to Rochester. He retired from IBM in 1986.

He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church; was once a member of the Rochester Barbershop Chorus; a lifetime member of the IBM Quarter Century Club; and a past member of the American Tree Farm Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Gregg; his sister, Betty Laging Popelka; and both of his parents.

He is survived by a daughter, Jean Laging and her partner, Rich Gillert, of Minneapolis; special extended family, Suzanne and Dale Rohlfing and their children; nephews, Dave (Mary) Popelka, John (Sabi) Popelka, Tom (Sarah) Patten; and nieces, Diane (Lyle) Gingerich, Theresa Patten, and Janet (Dale) Thorne.

His body was donated to Mayo Medical Science. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Zumbro Lutheran Church or Seasons Hospice.
