Dale R. Batzel - Kimball
ROCHESTER — Dale R. Batzel, 56, of Kimball, formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his residence, after a short battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, with a prayer service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 331 Harrison St. W., in Annandale. The Rev. Dave Nelson will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake Township, Wright County.
Dale was born April 3, 1954, in Rochester to Kenneth Batzel and Leda Batzel (now Meyer). He enjoyed long haul truck driving and was a man of many trades and talents. He later became a carpenter. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and socializing with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents; his children, Nathan Batzel of Kimball, Justin Batzel of St. Cloud, Amy Batzel of Kimball, Robert Batzel of South Haven and Christina (Steve) Poncelet of Rochester; his fiancee, Mary Johnson, and her children, Kelsey and Wyatt; brothers, Alan Batzel of Rosemount and Sam/Randy (Diane) Batzel of Rochester; sisters, Debra Bandy of Rochester and Julie (Jason) Whitcomb of Dover; 10 grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; and former stepmother, Grace Thompson.
He was married to Debbra Vicker, and they later divorced. He then married Judith Hass, and they later divorced.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Marvin Meyer; a stepbrother, David Meyer; brother-in-law, Robert Hass; and best friend, Norman Grant.
