Daniel M. Pavelko - Glyndon
Daniel M. Pavelko, 66, of Glyndon, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Daniel Mark Pavelko was born Nov. 3, 1945, to Ernest and Dorothy (Dorschner) in Lakefield. He grew up and attended school in Lakefield, graduating from high school in 1963. Daniel then attended Jackson Area Vocational School for a short time. He also continued to help on the family farm. Daniel served in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam from July, 1967 to April, 1968. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service in Vietnam. On Dec. 28, 1968, he married Linda Dregney in Minneapolis. He then attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis for two years. The family moved to Bismarck, N.D., in 1971, where Daniel was hired on with Northwestern Bell. A year later, he was transferred to Glen Ullin, N.D., for one year, and then back to Bismarck for two years before being transferred to Fargo. Daniel retired after 28 years of service in 1998 from Northwestern Bell, later known as U.S. West.
After retirement, Daniel enjoyed spending time at home on his farm. He also enjoyed ice fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Moorhead.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Pavelko of Glyndon; son, Kevin (Julie) Pavelko of Rochester; daughter, Brenda (Barry) Steen of Dilworth; grandchildren, Garrett and Lauren Pavelko and Bradyn, Bryce and Brock Steen; brothers, Bernard (Charlene) Pavelko of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Eugene (Debbie) of Detroit Lakes; sisters, Theresa (Cordell) Kolander of Lakefield, Donna (Jim) Dunse of Windom, Rita Pavelko of Cresco, Iowa, Sally Leavell of Baldwin, Wis. and Doris Pavelko of Lakefield; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Pavelko; and a nephew, Allen Kolander.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral will be today, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m., in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Dilworth. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon.
