Darlene Glasrud — Rochester

Darlene Marie Glasrud, 82, died peacefully on Dec. 10, 2015, surrounded by her family at Arbor Terrace memory care unit in Rochester.

Darlene Nelson was born on Sept. 27, 1933, in Rochester, to Violet Thompson and Laverne Nelson. She spent many summers with her favorite Aunt and Uncle, Lottie and Edwin Nelson, in Rock Dell. Darlene married Raymond Glasrud on Oct. 7, 1951, at East Saint Olaf Church in Rock Dell.

Darlene was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She loved reading, spending time with her family, playing Rummikub with her sister-in-law Ardys Glasrud, and craft shopping. Darlene was employed with the Rochester Public School District for 28 years, retiring in 1997.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Raymond; her son, Jeffrey (Leisa) Glasrud, and daughter-in-law, Maureen (Mark) Kelley of Rochester; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Maddox of Helena, Mo., Michelle Kelley (fiancé Brett Plonsky) of Hastings, Melissa (Nick) Lukovsky of Duluth, Travis Glasrud of New Hope, Minn., and Michael Kelley of Rochester.

She is preceded in death by her son, Larry Glasrud, mother, Violet Thompson, and father Laverne Nelson.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home in Rochester and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family would prefer memorials to Arbor Terrace, Seasons Hospice, or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
