Darlene Holst - Plainview

PLAINVIEW — Darlene Holst of Plainview died Sunday (July 25, 2010) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, of cancer. She was 78 years old.

The funeral service will be Wednesday (July 28) at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview; the Rev. David Frederickson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (July 27) at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Darlene LaRocque was born June 4, 1932, in Plainview to Charles and Maude (Turner) LaRocque. She was a 1951 graduate of Elgin High School. On September 4, 1951, she married Lowell Holst in Elgin. They made their home in Plainview where Darlene was employed by the Hillcrest Nursing Home doing bookkeeping. She retired in 1984.

Darlene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, flowers, crossword puzzles, and playing cards.

She is survived by five sons, Tom (Susan) of Cottage Grove, Minn., Randy (Sue Hime) of Minneapolis, Dan (Colleen) of Shakopee, Minn., Steve (Patty) of Elgin and Bill of Plainview; seven grandsons, Nicholas, Michael, Charles, Robert, Christopher, Matthew and Wyatt; seven granddaughters, Jennifer, Jessica, Camie, Lisa, Haley, Dianna and Lindsey; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Emma and Marin; one sister, Evelyn Spring of Elgin; and one half brother, Tyne Kellum of Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell (LB), on June 14, 1993; one son, Peter Holst; one great-grandson, Lowell Vannelli; her parents; one half sister, Violet Simon; and dearly loved sister-in-law, Doris LaRocque.

Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice.
