David A. Hanson - Rose Creek

David Alan Hanson, 70, of Rose Creek, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

David was born May 10, 1941, in Austin, to Herbert and Nellie Hanson. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1959, and served in the United States Army and the National Guard. David married Betty Mueller on April 28, 1962, in Milwaukee, Wis. They were married for 45 years and had one son, Mark, in 1964.

David was employed by Mower County Co-op, Hormel, and he farmed. He retired from farming in 2002. He was a member of the Adams American Legion Post 146 and served on the boards for Freeborn County Co-op and FHA.

He enjoyed going for coffee and touring the countryside looking at crops in the field, along with playing cards and gambling at the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Nellie Hanson.

David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teresa Hanson, Austin; grandson, Erich Hanson (Jen Lichty), Rose Creek; brother, Robert (Marlene) Hanson, Elkton; sisters, Mary Lou Hanson, Rochester, Barb (Ben) Miller, Sauk Rapids and Bev (Tom) Bernatz, St. Joseph; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 27, with the Rev. Marggi Pleiss-Sippola officiating. Interment will be at Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery with Adams American Legion Post 146 in charge of military rites.

Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday for one hour before the service.

Casket bearers will be Rod Hanson, Jim Hanson, Scott Bernatz, Trent Bernatz, Chad Miller, David Schwartz and Michael Schwerdtfeger.
