David T. 'Bummy' Bumgarner — Austin

David "Bummy" Bumgarner, 72, of Austin, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, after a two-year battle with cancer.

David Terry Bumgarner was born Nov. 24, 1940, at Austin, the son of Harold and Viva (Lembrick) Bumgarner. Dave graduated from Austin High School in the class of 1958, and from Austin Junior College. He was married to Claudette Collett on Aug. 12, 1961, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin.David worked as a loan officer and vice president in the banking business in the Austin area until his retirement. He had worked at First Bank Austin, the Security Bank and the Sterling State Bank.

He was a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Ambassador's Club, the 100 Club and the Elks Club. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

David enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as traveling to car shows with his 1965 Mustang. He also liked to watch sports and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

David is survived by his wife, Claudette Bumgarner, Austin; children, Robert and Kim Bumgarner, Austin, Laurie and Mark Haider, Austin, and Bill Bumgarner, Austin; grandchildren, Adam and Sarah Bumgarner, Alex Bumgarner, Michael Haider, Nicole Haider, Joe Bumgarner, Ben Bumgarner and Kallie Bumgarner; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Jacob Bumgarner.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Susan Rector-Li officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Austin.

Visitation will be held at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, on Tuesday, March 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday morning for one hour before the service.

The family prefers memorials.
