Delores Sam — Faribault

Delores R. (Mrs. Bernard) Sam, 81, of Faribault, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester.

Funeral services will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Monday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ashley Osborn officiating. Interment will be at Eklund Cemetery, rural Rice County.

Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, April 24, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Delores Ramona, the daughter of Evald and Florence (Person) Sandstrom, was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Battle Lake. She graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1951 and Gustavus Adolphus College in 1955. Delores married Bernard Sam on Aug. 17, 1957, in Battle Lake. She taught school in Austin for four years, and she taught kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary in Faribault for 28 years.

She is survived by two children, Kathy "Sam" (and Monte) King of Rochester, and Jim (and Joanne) Sam of Faribault; one granddaughter, Shelby Peyton of Rochester; a brother, Dennis (and Sharon) Sandstrom of Red Wing; a sister-in-law, Joyce Sandstrom of Rosemount, Minn.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard on May 24, 2011; and a brother, David Sandstrom.
