Deloris “Loie” Lorraine Holt

Deloris Lorraine Holt (Loie) passed away on Saturday August 15th, 2020 at her home in Rochester.

Loie was born on April 9th, 1938 to Clarence and Margaret (Smith) Holt in Salem Township. She and her family lived in Salem Township area prior to moving to Stewartville where she attended school. After completing school she moved to Rochester where she raised her family and worked. Loie was employed at the Rochester State Hospital in dietary for several years prior to their shut down. She then worked at Hiawatha Home before starting an in home daycare and then transitioning to in home Adult Foster Care for the last 25 years.

Loie was one of the most caring and loving souls you could ever meet. She adored her family especially her sons, grand-daughter, and great-grandson. She was an amazing sister to her siblings and their spouses, as well as the best aunt any niece or nephew could ask for. Her kindness shined through when you would stop by her house whether you were family or a friend, or even a soon to be new friend. She always had hot coffee and made you feel at home with a snack, lunch, or dinner. Holidays were always a treat for her family with lots of baked goodies and food she prepared. Loie also loved to play bingo, trying her luck at the casino, and going out to lunch with her friends.

Loie is survived by her two sons David Holt of Elgin, Joel Holt of Rochester, grand-daughter Melissa Holt and great grandson Jovanni of Columbia Heights, sister Middie Noltee of Rochester, brother’s; Clarence Holt Jr. of Charles City IA, and Robert (Linda) Holt of Byron, sister-in-law’s; Gloria Holt of Rochester, and Sharon Holt of Radisson WI, best friend Estelle Gustafson of Rochester, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; John, Joseph, Ernest, Dale, sister Lorraine, sister-in-law’s; Thelma, Maxine, Patricia, Sandy, and Trudy, brother-in-law Clifford Noltee.

A celebration of life will be held in Loie’s honor on September 20th, 2020 from 1 to 4 at the Eagles Club 917 15th Ave SE, Rochester, MN. There will be precautions in place to allow social distancing due to COVID-19 for your safety.
