Donald F. Nibbe - Red Wing

Donald Frederick Nibbe, 83, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the Red Wing Health Center.

He was born July 6, 1929, in Belvidere Township, to Benjamin and Katherine (Tiedeman) Nibbe. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1947 and took over farming on the family farm. In 1964 he moved to Red Wing and worked at Durkee Atwood and later drove truck. On July 16, 1980, he married Lydia Chavez. He went back to work at Pirelli, retiring in 1993. For a part-time job he worked at DBI in Red Wing until he and Lydia moved to Lake City in 2003. He also worked for Greenview Up-Keep at Frontenac State Park. Lydia died in 2004.

Donald enjoyed woodworking, being outside, doing yard work and gardening. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Andrie of Red Wing; siblings, Calvin Nibbe, Bonnie (Richard) Taube and Benjamin (Alice) Nibbe all of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
