Donald Gene Ramlo — Austin
Donald Gene Ramlo, 91 of Austin, died Monday, Sept. 28, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.
He was born April 12, 1924, in Decorah, Iowa, to Roy and Cora (Kjome) Ramlo. A 1943 graduate of Spring Grove High School, Donald served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946. On five daughters. He made his living as a truck driver for Hormel Foods. A member of the American Legion, Donald was also a longtime member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, and spending time with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his wife, Lucille Ramlo of Austin; his daughters, Roberta (Steven) Hansen of Eagan, Minn., Mary (Chris) Rodenkirchen of Fort Myers, Fla., Virginia (Kent) Tibbetts of Spokane, Wash., Patricia Hulet of Austin, and Ruth Michaels of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cora Ramlo, 3 brothers, and his son-in-law, James Hulet.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with Todd Portinga, A.I.M., officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, with military rites by American Legion Post 91.
