Donald Meyers — Plainview
A funeral Mass for Donald Meyers will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview, with Father William Becker officiating.
Mr. Meyers, 56, of Plainview, was called home Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, while doing what he enjoyed — being at the family farm.
Donald James Meyers was born July 16, 1958, in Rochester to Melvin and Eileen (Dunagan) Meyers. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He then went to work at IBM in Rochester. While working at IBM, he earned his electronic technician degree at Rochester Vo-Tech, completing the program in two years. He worked for IBM for 37 years and also worked the family farm his entire life. On April 30, 1977, he married Julie Peters in Plainview. They later divorced. Donald was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He very much loved spending his time with his three grandchildren, he loved to farm, he loved his dogs and they were often seen riding around with him in the front seat, he loved a good card game, boating on the river, deer hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Don was also a regular blood donor, and donated many gallons over his lifetime
Donald is survived by his parents, Melvin and Eileen Meyers of Plainview; his ex-wife, Julie Meyers of Eyota; three sons, Josh (Rachael) of St. Charles, Jeff (Bobbi Jo) of Plainview, and Jason of Elgin; three brothers, Mark (Jean), Terry (Sue) and Greg (Shelly) all of Plainview; three sisters, Maureen (Joe) Miller, Diane (Paul) Fick and Mary (Paul) Chick all of Plainview; three grandchildren, Carter, Leighton and Sofia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one infant brother.
Friends and family may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
