Donald Vincent — St. Charles
Donald Lynn Vincent, 82, of St. Charles, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Golden LivingCenter — Whitewater in St. Charles.
Don was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Dover, to Gene and Evelyn (Bailey) Vincent. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1951. Shortly after high school, he married Loretta Koenig in St. Charles.
Don served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime mechanic, owning and operating Rochester Diesel Service for many years. Don was a longtime member of the St. Charles Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 17 years and was also a State Fire Warden. Don enjoyed riding motorcycles and raising Appaloosa horses and was a successful stock car driver.
Don is survived by his sister, Nelly Richardson, of Pine Island; two sons, Bruce (Michele), of Eyota, and Rick (Lisa), of Eyota; four grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Brouwer, Justin Vincent, Adam (Jenna) Schneider and Eric Schneider; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, in 1988; daughter, Linda Schneider; and former daughter-in-law, Diane Vincent.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, where full military honors will be performed by American Legion Hugh Watson Post 190 and VFW Post 5630. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – St. Charles and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice.
