Donna M. Page — St. Charles

Donna M. Page, 91, of St. Charles, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

Donna was born Nov. 28, 1923, south of St. Charles, to Harry and Merle (Hayes) Scoggins. She was raised in rural St. Charles, and graduated from St. Charles High School. Following high school, Donna graduated from Winona Teacher's College, and later received her master's degree in library science from Mankato State University. Donna's teaching career began in country schools and later continued at Longfellow Elementary School in Rochester, where she taught fourth grade. She went on to become the librarian at that same school for several years. Donna then split her time working between several elementary schools in Rochester, until her retirement. Donna enjoyed teaching for more than 30 years. She married Lyle Page on Jan. 21, 1941, in Cresco, Iowa, they were later divorced. Donna married Roy Hanson on Aug. 3, 1983.

In her spare time, Donna enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, camping, and sharing her love of reading with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so precious to her.

Donna is survived by her three children, Robert (Marge) Page of Maple Grove, Bruce Page and Debra (Louis) Heim, both of St. Charles: five grandchildren, Matthew (Karin) Page, Kristen (Rodney) McCormick, Megan (Monte) Boyum, Louis (Alyssa) Heim and Nicole Page; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Laudon; and four stepchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, sister-in-law, Margaret Laudon and beloved cousin, Shirley Cassel.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. Charles United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jason Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
