Doris (Burdick) Koenig — St. Charles

Doris (Burdick) Koenig, 77, of St. Charles, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Wabasha.

She was born April 22, 1936, in Saratoga, to Kenneth and Lois (Cox) Burdick. She graduated from St. Charles High School, where she was the lead drummer in the high school band. Doris and Ray Koenig married and later divorced. Doris worked as a union bartender in Rochester for many years at the Depot House, Holiday Inn and the Ramada Inn. She lived in the St. Charles area most of her life, also living in California for several years and in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., returning to St. Charles in the past few years.

Survivors include two sons, Curt (Gayle) Koenig of St. Charles and Ed (Peggy) Koenig of Ridgeway; her mother, Lois Schuchard of St. Charles; five grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Chad, Angela and Stephanie; 11 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Genevieve (Dennis) Caouette of Maricopa, Ariz., Ramona (Wayne) Freeman of McKinney, Texas, Ella (Dick) Steffens of Maricopa, Ariz., Janice (Allen) Timm of St. Charles and Chet (Neva) Burdick of Hager City, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services to celebrate Doris' life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, with the Rev. James Barnhart officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with a reception following at the funeral home. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
