Doris M. Osborn was born in rural Lone Rock, Iowa, on Sept. 2, 1933, to Roy and Mabel (Cooper) Osborn. She grew upon the family farm, attended grades 1-10 at Seneca Consolidated School. In 1949, the family moved to a farm in rural Rock Dell Township. She graduated from Stewartville High School in 1951 and began working at Erdman's Grocery in Stewartville as a check-out girl. This is where she met Gordon Dux. They were married on Aug. 7, 1955, in Money Creek, by Doris's brother, the Rev. Lloyd Osborn. Together they farmed many years, northeast of Stewartville, where they raised their family. Gordon died on Jan. 25, 2004.
Doris enjoyed her many hours volunteering for St. John's Lutheran Church children's education programs, Altar Guild and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Doris also was active in the Stewartville American Legion Post #164 Auxiliary. She enjoyed games and cards with family, the neighborhood "500 Club" and "Friendship Club" at St John's.
The family would like to thank the many loving individuals that cared for our mother during her stay at the Garden Cottages in Stewartville and Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield.
Doris' passion was her faith and family. She encouraged each of her children and grandchildren to live and grow in their Christian faith.
Doris and Gordon are survived by their children, William (Katherine) Dux, living on the family farm in Stewartville; Karen (Hollis) Holtan of Hayfield; Lawrence (Lynette) Dux of Victoria; Cynthia (Joseph) Wall of Chamberlain, S.D.; and Angela (Louis) Steinbach of Murray, Utah; 12 grandchildren, Ginesa, Yolanda, Clara and Kenneth Dux, Christine Criddle, Carla Pfingsten and Kelsie Pfingsten, Rebecca Bendzik and Justin Dux, Nicholas and Emily Wall, William, Maria and Jakob Steinbach; three great-grandchildren, Banyan Bendzik, Charles Criddle and Spencer Wall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Dorothy Opheim, and two brothers, Harold and Lloyd Osborn.
