Dorothy Bartelt — Rochester

Dorothy Avis Bartelt, 74, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester.

Dottie was born June 13, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Richard and Avis (Martin) Kazimour.

She graduated from Regis High School, Cedar Rapids, and AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a secretary for Gamble Robinson in Minneapolis, where she met her husband. Roger Bartelt and Dottie were married Nov. 12, 1966. They were happily married for 49 years and had four children together. Dottie and Roger owned several businesses together in St. Charles, and she worked for North Star Foods. She finished her working life at Mayo Clinic, where she was a medical secretary for nearly 20 years.

Dottie enjoyed putting puzzles together, reading, flowers and gardening. She took pleasure in sightseeing and traveling, and was blessed to visit Alaska and Hawaii in her final years.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Roger, of Rochester; her children, Jeff (Annette) Bartelt, Lake City; Julie (William) Dawson, Casselton, N.D.; Janell (Michael) Unfried, East Liverpool, Ohio; Jason (Aleesha) Bartelt, Eyota; 16 grandchildren, Alexander, Matthew, Thomas, Rachel, Joseph, and Benjamin Dawson; Marie, Joseph and John Unfried; Malachi, Therese, Elena, Alexis, Isabel, Bernadette, and Sylvia Bartelt; her two brothers, Thomas (Joan) Kazimour, Castle Rock, Colo., and James (Jean) Kazimour, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Avis Kazimour.

A Requiem Mass on the day of burial will be offered for the repose of the soul of Dorothy Bartelt on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, rural Rochester, with the Rev. Thomas Mroczka officiating. A visitation Thursday will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Haverhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Dottie would appreciate donations for stipends for the offering of Mass, Holy Rosary recitation, and prayers for the faithful departed.
