Dorothy E. Struckmann — Rochester

Funeral services for Dorothy E. Struckmann will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Dr. Norman W. Wahl officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum.

Dorothy very peacefully passed away at Seasons Hospice on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at the age of 95.

Dorothy was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Wanda, to Rev. and Mrs. William J. Langholz. She attended Wanda public schools grades one through eight, graduating as valedictorian. She attended Lamberton High School where she graduated as salutatorian. Dorothy attended Lamberton Teacher's Training and taught three years in the rural schools of Redwood County, five years in Rock Dell Township and 13 years at Pinewood Elementary School.

On Sept. 4, 1940, she married Harold E. Struckmann, who preceded her in death.

They are survived by their five children, Ruth Ann Horning (Lowell) of Rochester, Ronald Struckmann (Dianne) of Maple Grove, Shirley Chambers (Bill) of Llano, Texas, Gerald Struckmann of Rochester and Janet Ableitner (Chris) of Rogers, Ark. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one sister, three brothers and one grandson.

She was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Rochester, where she enjoyed quilting and Bible study. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, cooking, gardening, playing Scrabble and doing puzzles. Dorothy also enjoyed her family.

Memorials may be designated to Seasons Hospice.
