Dr. Robert A. Devloo - Rochester
ROCHESTER — The funeral Mass for Dr. Robert A. Devloo will be at 12 p.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Dr. Devloo, 97, of Rochester died Thursday (Dec. 23, 2010) at Charter House in Rochester.
Robert was born June 21, 1913 in Ypres, Belguim, to Rene and Esther (Feys) Devloo. He graduated from medical school (Catholic University of Louvain) in 1939. He then joined the Belgian Army during WWII. After serving in the military as a Captain in Belgian Central Africa, he moved to Rochester in 1947, where he worked for the Mayo Clinic as a Fellow. He worked his entire life as an anesthesiologist for the Mayo Clinic (Staff Consultant in 1955) until his retirement in June of 1980.
On Dec. 24, 1973 he married Dr. Anna BlancQuaert in Zwinjnaarde Belgium.
She does not survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the Poverello Fund at Saint Marys Hospital.
