Elmer Bergan — Wabasha

Elmer Bergan, born Dec. 5, 1922, 90, of Wabasha, passed away the evening of Monday, April 29, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Elmer was born in Cary, N.D. A vet of World War II, he was employed at George A. Hormel in Austin, for 40 years. He has been retired for 31 years and enjoyed going fishing.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Jean Bergan; two sons, James Bergan, wife, Linda, and Dennis Bergan, wife, Anne; three stepchildren, John Ottman, David Emmons, wife, Shawna, and Judy Emmons; one brother, Roger Bergan; and two sisters, Merna Grecian and JoAnn Berning; four grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Bergan, two grandchildren, Troy Bergan and Joshua Ottman, one brother, Merlin Bergan and one sister, Lois Midthus.

Elmer donated his body to Mayo Clinic.

He will be missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held for Elmer on Saturday, May 11, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Wabasha American Legion.
