Frances 'Fran' Bolstad - Austin

Frances M. "Fran" Bolstad, 94, of Austin, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Fran was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Springfield, Minn., to Frank and Frances Groebner. She graduated from Springfield High School and took a post graduate course in business. Fran worked at State Bank of Springfield and University Bank in Minneapolis before her marriage. On May 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Vernon J. Bolstad of New Ulm.

Fran enjoyed her family and friends. She liked the outdoors, hiked and did lots of walking. Fran also golfed, bowled and played cards. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and St. Cecelia Unit.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Bolstad of Austin; two sons, Robert Bolstad of New Hope, and John Bolstad of La Crosse, Wis.; a brother, Max Groebner of New Ulm; a sister-in-law, Maxine Lilja of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Andrew Fredrickson of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

A Celebration of Life for Fran will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2012, at the Cedars of Austin Community Room. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Augustine Catholic Church or the Salvation Army.
