Frances Riegler — Eyota
A memorial service for Frances (Fran) Riegler will be held on Aug. 25 at Salem Road Covenant Church in Rochester. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. with the service at noon.
Frances Elizabeth Riegler, 89, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Arbor Gardens in Eyota.
Fran was born April 24 1927, in Grand Blanc, Mich., to Claude and Hazel Waterson. She was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School. On Aug. 16, 1947, she married Herbert Riegler and the would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this year. Over the years, they have lived in Grand Blanc, Rochester, Barnes, Wis., Green Valley, Ariz., and Eyota.
Fran was unsurpassed as a homemaker for her husband and three children as well as caregiver for her mother and mother-in-law, who lived with the family for many years. Fran's favorite place was in the kitchen making a meal. She was an excellent cook and baker, and many out-of-town Mayo Clinic patients enjoyed Fran's hospitality. Young people frequently stopped by and always found cookies and treats waiting. Her loving attitude and compassion touched so many lives over the yeas while she was serving her Lord. Fran will long be remembered and loved.
Fran was an active church member in each community in which the family lived. In Rochester, at First Baptist Church, she taught many Bible studies and was involved in activities for youth and young married couples. She was also very active in Christian Women's Clubs in Minnesota and Iowa as a speaker and area representative.
Fran is survived by her husband, Herbert; her children, Lee (Marilyn) Riegler and Claudia (Vern) Bergstrom of Rochester; nieces and nephews, Martha Vout, Jimmy Vout, and Dick Waterson in Michigan and Nancy Allen in Flolrida.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents and youngest daughter, Kathy.
Memorial donations may be made to Salem Road Covenant Church, building renovation fund.
