Francis M. Weis — Rochester

A memorial service for Francis M. Weis, 81, of Rochester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Francis Marvin Weis was born March 2, 1934, in Rochester, to Frank and Rose (Klein) Weis. He passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Seasons Hospice.

Francis graduated from Rochester Central High School. He was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked as a stove and furnace mechanic. On Jan. 4, 1958, he married Ruth Wheldon. Francis was employed at Southern Minnesota Auto Supply and later at Reynolds Wholesale.

He enjoyed going to the cabin on Lake Pepin. His recreational time was occupied by camping, golf, Ping Pong, fishing, cars, carpentry, bike riding, swing dancing, squirrel hunting, cross country skiing, lawn mowing and as a waiter for Mr. Donut.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" (Karla) Weis of Rochester and a daughter, Barb Weis of Crystal; grandchildren, Kenneth and Emily; and sisters, Delores Berg-David (deceased, Bill) of Hercules, Calif., and Arleen (Truman) Moulton of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Linus; and a child in infancy.
