Gary Gene Kleen — Red Wing

Gary Gene Kleen, of Red Wing, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2016.

He was born Oct. 17, 1947, near Manson, Iowa, to Hie and Margaret (McLaughlin) Kleen.

Gary graduated from Pomeroy High School in Iowa and Iowa State University. He moved to Red Wing in 1970 and married Susan Lee on May 10, 1975. He owned and operated Hiawatha Valley Landscaping for more than 30 years.

Gary was strong in his relationship with Jesus Christ and loved his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, running his sled dogs, target shooting, fishing, taxidermy and researching new projects.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Kellen and Kayden Kleen; three sisters and one brother; infant sister, Krystal Kleen, Edna (Kleen) Robinson, Donna (Essing) Staples and Lowell Essing.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; and two sons, Travis (Alissa) Kleen and Trever Kleen; one grandson, Aleksander Kleen; two sisters and one brother: Wynona (Kleen) Wichmann, Juanita (Kleen) Hanson, and Roy Essing.

A private service will be held for the family.
