Gary "Swede" Ronald Peterson — West Concord

Gary "Swede" Ronald Peterson, 77, of West Concord, died Nov. 30, 2015, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Swede was born Jan. 17, 1938, in Dovray Township, Murray County, to Carl and Marguerite (Sollinger) Peterson. He graduated from West Brooke High School. On Dec. 27, 1955, he entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on Dec. 26, 1961.

Swede returned home and began driving truck. On March 18, 1972, he married Donna Hanenberger in Byron. They lived in Skyberg for a few years until they made their home in West Concord, where they have lived for the past 33 years. Swede worked for several companies including Cisor, IT, Midwest and Buesing. He retired in 1999. Swede loved watching sports, especially NASCAR. He also liked fishing and playing cards with an occasional Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Swede is survived by his wife, Donna Peterson, of Hayfield; sons, Ed Anderson of Kasson, Tom Anderson of Zumbro Falls; daughter, Pennie (Pete) Moe of Skyberg; grandchildren, Alex (Jennie), Madi, Max and Zach Anderson; Christie Anderson, Carrie (Jarvis) Groth and Cassie Anderson; Sarah, Grace and Adam Moe; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tom (Patty) White of West Brooke.

Swede was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Bierman; and step-father, Clarence White.

The funeral service for "Swede" Gary Ronald Peterson will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center, Minn. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield assisted with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the family.
