Gerald D. 'Jerry' Johnson — Northfield

Funeral services for Gerald D. Johnson, 83, of Northfield, formerly of Byron, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at East St. Olaf Cemetery.

Gerald Duane Johnson was born April 1, 1931, in Byron, to Carl and Opal (Molde) Johnson. He died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield.

Gerald graduated from Byron High School and served during the Korean conflict. He married Mary Campbell on May 4, 1958, in Byron. The couple lived in Byron and later Rochester, where he worked for Marigold Foods and Crenlo. In 1965, they moved to Minneapolis and he worked for Thermal King Corporation for 25 years. In 2003, he moved to Northfield.

Gerald enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed the State Fair, Western Days in Chatfield and threshing shows.

Survivors include his daughter, Holly (Phil) Blades of Minnetonka; two sons, Steven (Lori) Campbell of Maplewood and Blair (Renee) Johnson of Rosemont; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Spencer) Shaw of Chatfield and Dorothy (Ivan) Moen of Byron; and a brother, Ronnie (Linda) Johnson of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in January 2013.
