Gerald 'Jerry' Brandl — Rochester
The funeral Mass for Gerald "Jerry" Brandl will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester.
Visitation will be today, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Mr. Brandl, 88, of Rochester, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, of natural causes at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Jerry was born on Jan. 8,1926, in New Munich, Minn., to Hubert and Florence (Reiland) Brandl. On April 28, 1959, Jerry married Delores Sweet in Mantorville. Mrs. Brandl died on Aug. 29, 2004. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator for the state highway department and retired from the Department of Transportation in 1997.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Jerry was a past member of the American Legion, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his five daughters, Wendy (Curt) Granrud, Gayle (Kirk) Christofferson, Kathy Johnson and Barb (Bill) Vonwald, all of Rochester and Kristine (Mark) Wilson of Grand Rapids. He has seven grandchildren, Andrew (Addy) and Amy Distad, Shane Christofferson, Grant Johnson, William "Charlie" Vonwald, Chelsee (Matt) Jensen and Heather Wilson, all of Rochester. His sister, Lillian Kyle and brother, Elroy (Gerri) Brandl survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four sisters.
Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws or Seasons Hospice.
