Gerald P. Schoenfelder - Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

ROCHESTER — Jerry passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on Oct. 6, 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Lise Ham Schoenfelder; 10 children, 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.

Jerry was born March 20, 1926, in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High before attending the University of Minnesota. He was a real estate developer in several states making his debut with Crossroads Center in his hometown of Rochester in the early '60s. His crowning achievement was Crossroads Center in Waterloo, Iowa, and he had a new development started in Moscow Mills, Mo.

Despite his success in real estate Jerry always referred to himself as a rancher, having owned several ranches in Arizona, California and Texas over the past 40 years. He resided in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Bastrop, Texas.

A memorial service was held at Church of the Nativity in Rancho Santa Fe on Oct. 22, 2010. A celebration of his life will be held in March at his ranch in Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson.
