Geri Doran Yanes, M.D., Obl.OSB — Rochester

Geri Doran Yanes, M.D., Obl.OSB of Rochester, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.

Born Oct. 24, 1958, in Lincoln, Neb., Geri was a retired federal employee after having worked at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester.

She is survived by her husband, Al Yanes; her mother, Mary Anne Doran; and her siblings and their spouses, Joe and Renee Doran (Kennard, Neb.), Paul and Stephanie Doran (Huntley, Ill.), Fred and Julie Doran (Omaha, Neb.) and Dorene and Jim Watson (Omaha, Neb.); and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, godchildren and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dwight Doran, and her brother, Frank Doran.

Geri graduated from Holy Name High School in Omaha, Neb., in 1976. She received her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in 1980 and her medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1986. She completed her psychiatry residency at Stanford University in 1996. She became an Oblate of the Order of St. Benedict in 2004.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Omaha, Neb., with a wake service at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Omaha, Neb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Benedict Center Endowment Fund, 1126 Road I, Schuyler, NE. 68661.
