Gladys I. Njos - Blooming Prairie

Gladys I. Njos, 80, of Blooming Prairie, formerly of Austin, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Gladys Irene Patzer was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Delmont, S.D., to Henry and Herminia (Wentzel) Patzer. She attended Austin schools, and was a waitress at Harry’s Cafe for 38 years. On March 20, 1950, Gladys was united in marriage to Duayne Njos in Austin, at St. John’s parsonage.

She enjoyed doing word puzzles, crocheting, baking and watching game shows, especially "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune." She loved walking and outings and being on the go.

Survivors include her children, Suzanne (John) Harris of Hollandale, Richard Njos, Sr. of Wabasha, Wayne (Karen) Njos of Blooming Prairie, Randy (Lorraine) Njos of Pueblo, Colo., and Scott (Stacy) Njos of Austin; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Arnold Patzer of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Herminia; her husband, Duayne in 2011; one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin.
