Glenna M. Peterson — Dodge Center
Glenna Marie (Hairsine) Peterson, 98, died on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. Glenna nourished people around her with love, faith and her ability to bake. Her grandchildren were often caught sneaking baked goods from the freezer. Glenna instilled her love for family and baking in those close to her.
Glenna was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Glen and Ethel Hairsine, and was the middle of five children. She graduated from Kasson High School in 1935 and started working for American Linen. On May 17, 1941, Glenna married Richard Peterson. The couple spent many years traveling while Richard was in the service before returning to Kasson.
Glenna spent the next 30 years working for the Kasson-Mantorville Schools in the cafeteria and as an elementary school classroom aide, where she was praised for her hard work and caring personality. The couple spent many years traveling and camping with their children.
Glenna is survived by her husband of 75 years, Richard; her children, Rebecca Christensen and Greg Peterson; grandchildren, Jaclyn Gunderson, Jeffery Donahoe and James (Crystal) Donahoe; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mariam Krumwiede and Roberta Kilpatrick; and many nieces and nephews. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Sarah Parkin, and her brother, Carl Hairsine.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 Eighth Ave. NW, Kasson, Minn., with Pastor Randy Fett officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville. There will be no reviewal or visitation.
