Gordon Christenson -- Rochester

Gordon L. Christenson, 81, of Rochester, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Rochester Rehabilitation Center.

Gordon Lyle Christenson was born March 23, 1937, to Eldridge and Elsie (Podolske) Christenson in Rochester. In 1956, Gordon graduated from Byron High School. He married DeLores "Dee" Rud on April 12, 1958, at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He worked at the Rock Dell Creamery and at the Saint Mary’s Power Plant as a steam engineer from 1960-94. After his retirement, he worked at True Value Hardware. Gordon enjoyed spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and cheering on the MN Twins and MN Wild.

Gordon is survived by his wife, DeLores "Dee," of Rochester; son, Darrel (Denise) Christenson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Sally (Wayne) Roerish, of Rochester; two grandchildren, Sondra (Adam) Johnson and Adam Roerish; two sisters, Dorothy Molde, of Rochester, Marilyn (Dalmer) Strain, of Rochester; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Christenson, of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Maynard.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Adam Koglin officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Thursday, Aug. 30, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
