Harriet M. Lawman - Rochester

ROCHESTER — Harriet M. Lawman, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010.

Harriet M. Paulson was born May 26, 1925, to Alvin and Marie (Hjelman) Paulson in Blooming Prairie. She married Orville E. Lawman on April 10, 1949, in Blooming Prairie. In 1966 the couple moved to the rural Pine Island area and started Wazionja Campground and Trailer Sales, operating it until 1991. The couple moved to Rochester in 2002. They wintered regularly at Mission, Texas, until 2006. Orville died June 21, 2006.

As a youth, Harriet was active in 4-H and played the violin. She enjoyed camping and time spent with family, and though she was a talented artist she had little time for painting with six children and a campground to manage. For 25 years, during the camping season Harriet could be found most often in the campground store visiting with campers and managing the various campground operations. In later life, she and her husband enjoyed winters in Texas and summers at their rural home near Pine Island.

Harriet is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Cullip, Wabasha, Pamela (David) May, Port Orange, Fla., and Diane (Jeffrey) Sigrist, Pine Island; three sons, Thomas (Gloria) Lawman, Plattsmouth, Neb., James (Regina) Lawman, Rochester, and Rev. Larry (Doreen) Lawman, Forsyth, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Calvin (Carol) Paulson, Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville, and her sister Bernice Milton.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Chapel, with the Rev. Gene Follis officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
