Harvey Weaver -- Mazeppa
Greatly missed will be Harvey Edward Weaver, of Mazeppa. Harvey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Dec. 23, 2017, at the age of 81, following a brief battle with cancer.
Harvey was born to Edna (Nasers) and Claude Weaver on May 24, 1936, and grew up in a large, loving family in the Salem Corners area, where he attended Salem Corners country school. Upon completion of school, Harvey was a loyal employee of Reserve Mining in the Babbitt area for 31 years and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged in December 1962.
In 1956, he married Laurel Christianson, and they welcomed three children into their lives, instilling a strong work ethic and encouragement to pursue their goals. Harvey was very proud of son, Richard (Jane) Weaver, of Stewartville; son, Donovan, of Nashville, Tenn.; and daughter, Lois Steele (Ron), of Satellite Beach, Fla. Harvey and Laurel later divorced.
On Jan. 18, 2003, Harvey married Janis Lee Larimer. For many years, Harvey and Janis enjoyed traveling and were very enthusiastic and passionate about restoring classic cars and Oliver tractors. He was a member of the Tall Pines Plymouth Club, where he participated in classic car shows, he also participated in many tractor rides in various communities and locations. Harvey enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and spending time with family and friends. Harvey enjoyed sports where he had an incredible knack for being an armchair coach.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil and Ernest Weaver; and sisters, Bernice Baker, Juanita Wright and Betty Aaby; and stepchild, Kevin Larimer.
In addition to Harvey’s children, he leaves behind his loving wife, Janis; brothers, Kenneth (Elsie) Weaver and Harley (JoAnn) Weaver; sister, Marjorie Hillman; stepchildren, Sheryl (Lyle Schultz), Steven Larimer (Laura) and Sheila (Jeff Buenger).
Grandchildren, Jeff (Nicky) Espinosa, Chasity (Jamin) Ortgiesen, Jacob Weaver, Samantha Weaver (Corey); stepgrandchildren, Jesse Larimer, Vanessa Larimer, Caleb Buenger, Ethan Schultz, Daniel Hanson and Dakota Larimer.
Great-grandchildren, Gabby and Christopher Espinosa, Austin Hails, Talon Kildahl and Kainen Grzybowski; stepgreat-grandchildren, Teagan Mieves, Sophia Hanson and Dominic Hanson; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Services for Harvey will be at 11 a.m. April 28, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with a time of visitation prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service, and then Harvey will be inurned at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
