Hedwig (Hedy) Kent -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Hedwig (Hedy) Kent will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Rance Settle officiating. Private burial of her cremated remains will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Hedwig Elise Pfeuffer was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Herchsheim, Germany, to Michael and Lina (Muller) Pfeuffer. Hedwig died Jan. 17, 2010, at Golden Living Center East, of failing health.

Hedwig grew up on the family farm. On May 8, 1949, she married John E. Kent. In November of 1958, she moved with her family to the Rochester area. Mrs. Kent retired from JCPenney, and Mr. Kent worked for IBM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Irma Kent of Rochester, and her son, Gary (Sandra) Kent of Kasson; one grandson, Dillon Kent; one sister, Gertrude Ruhl of Herchsheim, Germany; and one brother, Erwin (Marta) Pfeuffer of Herchsheim, Germany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Salvation Army.
