Helen L. Erickson - Dodge Center

Helen Louise Erickson, 88, of Dodge Center, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital due to complications from pneumonia and diabetes.

She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Rochester, the daughter of Paul and Ella Hoppe. She graduated from high school there in 1941. Following her education she worked at the Rochester Senior High School as a secretary to the principal. Later she was a secretary at the Samuel P. Allen Law Office in Rochester. Helen married Elmer D. Erickson on April 28, 1948, in Dodge Center. After their children were raised she worked at the West Concord High School as secretary to the principal and later was clerk of the Dodge County Selective Service Office, and then at the Rochester Selective Service Office until it closed. Helen was secretary for her husband's business, Erickson Masonry until his retirement.

Helen was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church in Dodge Center.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer Erickson, Dodge Center; a daughter, Sandra (David) Holland, Dodge Center; and a son, Dennis (Barbara) Pine City; four grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Ryden, Northfield; Hans (Holly) Holland, Janesville; Nathan (Anna) Erickson, Crete, Neb.; and Lindsey Erickson, Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Andrew and Grace Ryden; Jack and Madyn Holland; and Gustav Erickson; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and sisters, Hazel (Andrew) Erickson and Irene (Grant) Culver.

A private memorial service will be held at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second Street N.W. in Hayfield. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
