Helen P. Carpenter - Rochester
A funeral Mass for Helen P. Carpenter will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov, 20, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at Hugo.
Mrs. Carpenter, 94, a resident of Charter House, passed away in the Supportive Care Unit there Thursday, Nov. 15.
Helen Pauline was born on June 7, 1918, in St. Paul to Carl and Evelyn Haedge. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy High School and St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul. On Sept. 9, 1942, she married Marcel F. Carpenter at the Church of the Little Flower in St. Paul. The couple moved to Rochester in 1960. Mr. Carpenter is a local businessman.
She is survived by her husband, Marcel; two daughters, Mary (Bill) Kistler, of Chillicothe, Ohio; Sue (John) McHale, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and one son, Ken (Mary Ann) Carpenter, of Tucson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, George, one brother and one sister.
Helen was an avid golfer and bridge player, and she enjoyed extensive traveling. Along with her husband, she has been an active member of the Rochester Golf and Country Club for many years.
