Hok Sin -- Rochester
A private memorial service will be held Saturday for Hok Sin, 72, of Rochester. He died Thursday July 18, 2013, at his Rochester home.
Born and raised in Cambodia, Hok Sin served his country in the Cambodian Armed Force National Khmer as a colonel from 1960 to 1975. Married in 1960, his wife died during the couple's escape to Thailand in 1975. He moved to the United States in 1979, was a construction engineer, and lived in Connecticut until 2003. Retiring due to health reasons in 2001, he moved to Minnesota in 2003.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Chrep, who resides in Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Poa Pay and her husband Mengkhun of Rochester; nephews, Vutha Un and his wife Soeuy Phoeun of Rochester, and Pisey Un and his wife Mom of Richmond, Virginia; and a niece, Dary A. Un and her husband Saws, also of Richmond.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two children.
