Hulie E. Timmons — Rochester

A funeral Mass for Hulie E. Timmons will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wm. T. McCoy Post #92 of the American Legion.

Mr. Timmons, 89, of Rochester, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Golden Living Center East in Rochester.

Hulie Earl Timmons was born April 30, 1924, in Mansfield, Tenn., to James and Lilly (Morris) Timmons. He was raised, and graduated from high school, in Paris, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot, from 1943 to 1946. On Feb. 10, 1945, he married Sophie Marchwinski in St. Louis, Mo. Sophie died Dec. 7, 2007. The couple moved to Chicago in 1957, and to Rochester in 1959. Hulie started as a wall washer, and retired as chief mechanical engineer in 1984, after 35 years at Continental Baking/Wonderbread in Rochester.

He enjoyed gardening, traveling and was an avid bowler, coaching youth bowling for many years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Darlene (Michael) Ginder of Rochester; three sons, Randy of Edmonds, Wash., Earl (Mollie), and Daniel both of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Elaine Harris of Virginia.

His wife, an infant son, two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Rochester Chapel, where there will be a 6 p.m. prayer service. Friends may also call an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Mayo Foundation for Cancer research.
