Irene Dunagan - Rochester

PINE ISLAND — Agnes Irene Dunagan, age 98, a longtime Rochester resident, passed away Aug. 31, 2010, at Pine Haven Nursing Home, where she has lived the past four years.

She was born June 11, 1912, in Dodge County to Frank and Inez (Kennedy) Quick. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy in Faribault. Irene married John Austin Dunagan on Aug. 29, 1935, and he preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1992.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Pius Catholic Church. She and her late husband were very active and involved in the Knights of Columbus for many years. Mr. Dunagan served as the Olmsted County Assessor for many years. They enjoyed weekends at their cabin in Wabasha with family and friends for many years.

She is survived by a daughter, Delores Archer (John) of Pine Island, and a son, John A. "Jack" Dunagan (Dixie) of Mason City, Iowa. Ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson also survive. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Macken Funeral Home, with a Rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at St. Pius Catholic Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
