Irlene Schauer — Rochester
Irlene Schauer, 98, of Rochester, died Friday evening, Aug. 5, 2016.
She was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Wasioja Township of Dodge County, the daughter of Paul and May (McIntosh) Bovee. She married Elmer Schauer on Oct. 29, 1939, in Rochester in a double ceremony with her sister Madeline Hart and Donald Hart. They raised their family in Rochester and for 25 years she was employed at Town Hall Estates in Rochester. Elmer died in 1991.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rochester. She enjoyed after-church lunches with her family and extended family of sisters, nieces and nephews. She had a passion for travel and cooking and she took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Irlene is survived by her children, Keith (Gail) Schauer of Duluth, Bruce Schauer of Sparks, Nev., Juanita Dean of Martinez, Calif., Myra (Martin) Ekrem of Brentwood, Tenn., Paulette (Charles) Schurhammer of Rochester, and Patrice (Allen) Watson of Barstow, Calif.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Madeline Hart of Plainview; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, two brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rochester, with Pastors Stan Wilkinson and Bradley Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Family and friends may call at the church one hour before the service.
