Iva Anderson

Iva Mae Anderson passed comfortably surrounded by family on Thursday June 18th, 2020. Originally from Pine Island, Iva attended Waldorf College in Iowa and Winona State University. She taught first grade in Elmore, MN, before moving to Chatfield where she again taught first grade for 20 years. Her husband, Vern (originally from Lakefield, MN), was the C.V.H.S. band director. People like to say “he taught in Iowa, she taught in Minnesota, and they met at the border” (The Border Cafe, actually). She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Berdella Romo, brothers Gene and Allen, sisters Bonnie and Charlene. She is survived by her brother Dean Romo.

Iva and Vern were married 62 years. They have 3 children: Jeff (and Pam) Anderson of Stewartville, Brenda (and Steve) VanNurden of Denver, Steve (and Jennifer) Anderson of Eagan. They have 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Iva will be remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile and sweet spirit.

On Sunday, June 21st we will celebrate her life with a visitation at 2 PM and service at. 3 PM at Bethel Lutheran in Rochester. Later this year we will have another celebration at Chatfield Lutheran
